Moving to a new rate whilst on a DMP

Hi Everyone,
We are currently on a DMP and have come to the end of a 5 year fixed rate of 6.79% on our mortgage. Whilst we know that we cannot get a decent rate by re-mortgaging to another lender and that it is very unlikely that we could even re-mortgage, we wondered what the possibility would be of remaining with our existing lender (Santander) but moving to another fixed rate?
We have never missed any of our mortgage payments and have never been in arrears and also have a good amount of equity in the property.
Thanks in advance
Ellie
