Totally the opposite judging by the general reaction. There's no giveaway as people mistakenly assumed. This is a plan with a commercial basis. That may well make a profit for taxpayers.0 -

From this morning's Telegraph;
Estimates of the potential revenues from Help-to-Buy emerged as HSBC became the fifth lender to sign up to the scheme on the day of its official launch, and Royal Bank of Scotland was inundated with demand for its first two deals.
RBS, Lloyds Banking Group, Virgin Money and Aldermore have already agreed to offer Help-to-Buy deals,

Hi Brit!!!!
You must be absolutely fuming over all the good news lately, house price rises heading rapidly towards double digit percentages, banks inundated with demand for HTB2 and having to open late, prices up in every region of the UK, etc etc etc....
Can I just say the thought of all that impotent rage bubbling up in you over other people's good fortune makes me immensely happy.
I do so look forward to your daily ranting on the mortgage and house buying boards. It makes me smile for absolutely ages every time.
Lots of love
H

Simple old bean, aren't you!
Can just see you sitting there with a massive grin on your face, smug in the knowledge that someone else is having a hard time, but you are just dandy. Sure, it helps that you are so open about your very simple pleasures!0 -
