Hi everyone
My mom has back pain so decided to change the bed and the mattress.
After looking around for a while we bought this bed siesta bed from Warren Evans
But decided against buying their mattress because when we tried it in their shop it somehow didn't feel right.
So I decided to buy a mattress from somewhere else, I was thinking of going with pocket sprung mattress from Argos but I'm really not sure whats good or not there.
After going through threads on here someone recommended Restus mattress and they said they do mattress for places like john Lewis.
What do you think of the following mattress and will it go with the bed we bought.
Restus Crystal 3000 Natural pocket from best price beds
This is quite urgent because the bed will be delivered this Friday and I didn't order a mattress yet
Just realized I'm not allowed to post links but please Google the names of the bed and the mattress.
Thanks
Yasmin

The Crystal is a cracking mattress for the money, big thumbs up recommend it.
I would phone best price beds and make sure that they can delivery it by/on Friday before ordering it though. As many companies say they have stock, but reality can be different.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -

I thought I'd add my tuppence worth. Mattresses choice is subjective but there are manufacturers and mattress types to keep in mind.
Types of Mattress
Pocket Springs - Supportive mattresses which confirm to your body shape. Come in different spring counts, the higher the more supportive generally. Also come in different spring tensions; soft, medium & firm.
Open Coil - A continuous coil of wire which are ok for short term use or children/teenage body weights. These mattress don't conform to an adult body weight sufficiently enough for everyday use.
Latex - A natural rubber product, used in mattresses for relieving pressure points and conforming to body shape instantly.
Memory Foam/Visco Elastic - The original (Tempurpedic) was developed by NASA for use in spacesuits to relieve pressure in spacesuits during take off. Tempur then brought it to the bed market for it's pressure relieving benefits and now many other companies have developed their own form of 'memory foam' however only Tempur know the original recipe. Memory foam mattresses have been considered to be hot to sleep on as they require the heat from your body to 'mould' to your body shape, however Tempur say there is no heat issue in their mattresses since they removed the older fleece covers they once used.
Gel - An answer to the heat issues thought to be created by memory foam type mattresses. Gel mattresses respond instantly to movement and allow airflow so are cool to sleep on.
Manufacturers
Harrison's - Family owned bedmakers who make mattresses for independent stores, John Lewis & Feather and Black. Harrison's have won award for their Revolution spring system.
Hypnos - Royal Warrant holders who make beds for independent stores, John Lewis & many hotels.
Vi-Spring - Considered to be the market leaders and again make for John Lewis, independent stores and hotels. Vi-Spring provide guidance for tension of spring/body weight.
Tempur - The market leaders in pressure relieving mattresses. Their foam is different from any other foam type mattress on the market, so they hold a unique position in the marketplace.
Somnus - Owned by Harrison's and are positioned to compete with Vi-Spring. They use a unique 'stacked' pocket spring system.
Kaymed - Irish company who are more well known in Ireland than the UK but have innovative products, I.E the Gel system they use; designed to be cool to sleep on whilst having pressure relieving benefits.
Dunlopillo - Latex manufacturers, who are the premium brand in this field.
There are other manufacturers who are repuatable, I.E, Sealy (now owned by Tempur), Myers & Slumberland (Owned by the same owners as Dunlopillo), Millbrook etc but I would personally look at the brands I've meantioned in more detail.
Just remember a mattress is a very important purchase, that should not be scrimped on as not only do you spend 8 hours plus a day in it but it also effects your health and your daily mood and productivity.
I hope this helps. I have no bias to these manufacturers but have worked with beds for over 8 years in various formats. Be careful of buying from the big department stores as they often push manufacturers to 'de-spec' their products to drive down the wholesale price of an item thus increasing their profit margins but not necessarily giving you the best value for your hard-earned. Also the best thing to do is to go to a shop and lie on them. Don't forget to ask for a deal. Many stores will do you a discount if asked.0 -
Just make sure you pay by credit card, so if you have any problems your credit card company are also liable.
As for Cubist info, some of it is very good. But those makes are not exactly great value for money.
Would Rolex have the same appeal if they were cheaper? For example.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
Just thought I'd add my recent enlightenment- no that sort! I was also looking for a new mattress and came across the most fab website offering seemingly impartial advice regarding past/problematic mattress purchases. They do sell mattresses, but you just have to visit this site to se what I mean. And no, I am not a mattress geek- I am now just well informed about what to look for/ask when buying a new bed! Try John Ryan design or also known as factory beds direct. Good Luck. They also offer a no quibble return if not totally comfy.

Hi
Thanks for the replies everyone.
I didn't see the last two posts until after I've ordered from best bed price.
Had look around factory beds direct website and it looks promising.
I decided to go with the mattress Pinkypants recommended. The Restus Crystal 3000 Natural pocket spring.
I'm not sure about their refund policy they said I have 7 days to return it but that the mattress has to be in perfect condition and it would cost me £50 to return it.
I'm not too worried about that as long as the mattress is a decent one for the money I've spent.
I will let you know once I have received it if we like the mattress
Thanks

Hi everyone
I just wanted to give an update on the mattress. It arrived on Friday and when we put it on the bed it had a big high because the bed we bough is high of the ground and the mattress is quite big
So far we are really impressed with the mattress, it looks a lot more expensive than we paid for it.
My mom reported she felt no back pain sense she started sleeping on the new mattress.
I might even get myself one.
So thanks for your help especially Pinkypants who recommended this mattress

Hi Yasmin
I'm also considering the Restus Crystal 3000 mattress. You've had yours for 4 months or so, what do you think of it?
I quite liked Somnus and Relyon too."That which does not kill you will hurt like hell", Friedrich Nietzche.0 -
Yes would like to know also...?0
