Cordysl question

If Cordysl mouthwash stains teeth do they revert back to normal 'whiteness', with effective brushing and flossing, once the need the use it is over?

As it's only the plaque on the tooth that gets stained, then effective brushing and flossing would stop the staining in the first place.

But if brushing and flossing were effective, then you wouldn't have got into a state where you'd be prescribed Corsodyl in the first place!

The staining can be polished off easily by a dentist or hygienist. Some patients can do it, some struggle.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
  • Thank you for your reply but it wasn't prescribed for me and I don't use it!.
It was really just a general query.

I only asked the question, as when shopping noticed it was on special offer at Morrisons, and it's being widely advertised at the moment.

Mouthwash is widely advertised and that's the only reason people buy it. Most mouthwashes, 98%, are cosmetic only ie they have no health benefit and in fact interfere with the way toothpaste works.

The few that are of clinical benefit e.g. corsodyl should be used for a short time only and on a dentists advice only.

Chlorhexidine the main component , has been responsible for a growing number of allergies, some fatal, and there is evidence bacteria can develop resistance to chlorhexidine.

It should never be used routinely.
