Estate Agent Mortgage Advisors

Hi all
We've had an asking price offer on our house and I am now being asked to go and see the estate agents mortgage advisor. I have already found myself an independent mortgage advisor who specialises in adverse credit (as this is what I need) and he seems to think he can get us a mortgage although he doesn't seem to be in any rush!
I have told the estate agents that as we have had adverse credit in the past they probably wouldn't be able to help me but they have kept pressurising me to see them anyway. Am I right in thinking that they won't be able to help me?
I've got 6 defaults from 2009 all of which are settled in 2012/2013 and all of which are under £500 and a CCJ for £173 from 2011 which was settled in January this year. No late payments on my current mortgage in the last 2 years.
I don't want to go and see them if it's going to be a complete waste of time but I'm not very good at standing my ground!

This the agent who sold your home, not the one you are buying from?
As you are likely to be asked to do the same by your vendor's agent, I'd say no to both.

Yep the Estate Agent who sold our home. I told them that it's hard to get me and my husband together for an appointment because of the shifts he worked so they said they'll see me on my own. I feel like I can't say no seeing as they sold my house but I know it's going to be a complete waste of time and rather embarrassing!0

Phone the advisor directly. Tell them you have adverse credit problems and have appointed a specialist. Finish off by saying you aren't going to waste his/her time, so you won't be taking up the offer of an appointment, thanks.I am a mortgage broker. You dont have to see their broker.
You may have to provide a decision in principle and/or proof of deposit but you are under no obligation to see they advisor.
As for your scenario - estate agent brokers tend to do a search and go with the cheapest... your situation requires a little bit of work. Tony - she's the vendor. This is the vendor's agent we're talking about.

So they are trying to get the OP as a client for when they make their next purchase?

Yes that's what they're trying to do. I think I'll try and politely decline as king street has suggested and yes we have a 15% deposit.0
