Not Sure What To Do Next

Thanks Tixy, I've had a quick look at some temporary jobs and applied so waiting to hear back from them.
I'm not sure I could VT my car agreement but I'll look into it.0 -

How much is the car worth, how much do you owe, and over how many months are you paying for it?
£200 per month on a car on your wage looks to be pretty excessive. You can find a perfectly decent car for a few hundred pounds nowadays, and on your wage, this is very likely what you should be doing.0 -

Is this an ideological objection to paying tax?
Yes, if you earn more, you'll pay more tax, but you also get to take more money home, too. Are you genuinely saying that if you could double your wage and double your ta that you'd not want to?0 -
Sorry John1993 I don't think I explained myself too well before. I spoke to a colleague the other day about possibly getting another job on top of the one I have and was put off by her saying that most of it would go on tax. I hadn't looked into it in detail but by what others have said on here it's not bad at all.
I'll see what I can do re the car. It's on a PCP agreement so I don't think there are exit clauses as such but I might be wrong. I'm 18 months into it and it's a 42 month agreement.0 -
So far today I've managed to cancel my gym membership, unfortunately another payment will go out before then. I've applied for a couple more part-time roles and waiting to hear on them.0

Any chance your mobile is out of contract? My OH got his tariff reduced from £25 to £10 per month when his contract term ended. Alternatively, could you consider a PAYG?
Also, do you have anything you could ebay? (Well done on the gym membership - £25/mth is a good start to reducing the debts.)Mortgage when started: £330,995

I can't change my mobile tariff unfortunately. Not for another year at least.
I have ebayed a few items. Managed to get £200 for an old football, so much more than I was expecting to get!
Not had any luck finding an additional job so far, but I've had an application accepted for a FT job, just waiting to hear when my interview is.
I'm also looking at changing tariff on my gas & electric. Currently is not fixed so I've found a deal using the energy club that should save me a bit of money and fix the price for 18 months. Need to speak to my housemate about this though first.0 -
I've switched my energy bills to npower, fixing the price until Dec 2017 by using the Energy Club here. Says it should save us about £50 a year on what we use now plus we'll get £30 cashback shortly. The DD has gone down from £60 to £43 a month and we've got a surplus of £80 with on our current deal.
Not a bad mornings work. Should have to worry about energy bills for quite a while! :j0 -
Agreed with what others have said - the car finance is what's killing your budget at the moment. I'd have a good read through your paperwork in relation to that and see when/if you can hand the car back and look at getting a cheap runaround.
Could you give up the contact lenses and wear glasses for a bit? I know they're not that expensive but every little helps. Along with the gym that will already be an extra £40 a month to make use of.
If your credit isn't too bad, could you get a cashback credit card to get money back on petrol and food shopping? The Santander 123 card offers this. What will your verse be?
