DMP and payday loans

Hi all

I've recently embarked on my journey to become debt free. I have signed up with Stepchange and made my first payment last week... such a relief knowing that I'm finally going in the right direction.

I had debts with 2 payday loan companies, I phoned them up last week to inform them of my DMP and they took the details etc, but said they hadn't received anything from Stepchange as yet, which is understandable as it hadn't been too long since I'd sent Stepchange my paperwork. Anyway, my main question was has anyone got any experience of DMP and payday loans and if they're likely to accept the offer being made or has anyone experienced difficulties with them? Any advise would be appreciated, just wondering what to expect!

Thank you

Also, as a little piece of advice to end on in case anyone whos reading this is in a similar position... I spent 6 months knowing that there would be a time when I couldn't afford my debts but buried my head in the sand (as I of course, was going to win the lottery!) Anywho, arranging the DMP has been the biggest weight of my shoulders, I actually can sleep now rather than waking up in panics. Also, don't be afraid on phoning your creditors, again its something else that I really didn't want to do but I was amazed at their reponses - even my payday loan companies who I assumed would be very judgemental and mean, were actually not :)

I had 5 PDL's when I started my DMP. All accepted the offers from StepChange (although I did just presume that they had as I heard nothing to the contrary!) only problem I had was with Payday Express who whacked £190 on top of what I already owed them, which included interest! It took a few letters to them, but they admitted their mistake and that charge has been removed.
    Good luck.
