Can't send eBay item?

tiger-eyes Honestly if I was the buyer I would expect you to honour the auction price as there were no stipulations for additional postage.
You can of course ask the buyer if they would be prepared to pay the extra postage (or maybe part of).
People in NI who buy online are normally aware that couriers can charge more to send there (not including big mainstream companies of course) so they may be prepared to contribute a bit more to the postage costs. Depends how much they want the item.
However it could be that they chose your auction as it was the overall best price (if others had included a delivery surcharge) and rightly assumed that you would send for the price stated.
If you have communicated with the buyer you can refund send a cancellation request (which the buyer has to agree with) and you'll get fvfs back.
If you decide that you cannot send the item the buyer can report you as a non performing seller and you will risk neg feedback.
I'm sure it's a lesson learnt and you won't make the same mistake again.0 -
Thank you, I know that it is my error which is why I'm trying to resolve it. I have only ever sent letters to NI before so I didn't realise there was a surcharge by couriers.0

Definitely a lesson learnt! I honestly did not know there would be extra postage otherwise I would have asked for buyers to get a quote beforehand.0 -

Well aware but don't really understand?tiger-eyes wrote: »However the person who has won has a Northern Ireland postcode, I had chosen no international postage but didn't have any specific exclusions.tiger-eyes wrote: »Thanks, but they have already paid for the item with the UK p&p charge
Probably because they are in the UK.
All that aside. What do you really mean then when you say this.....tiger-eyes wrote: »
It was only a difference of a few pounds though, so I still think it will be more than they are willing to pay.
I take it you really mean....more than YOU are willing to pay?
As you did quantify with this....tiger-eyes wrote: »Definitely a lesson learnt!
Your mess, you pay, not the buyer.0 -
I'm sure picking apart the post sentence by sentence is really needed after the issue has been resolved.0

Resolved, really. I must have missed the bit where the OP had confirmed she had sent it after paying out of her own pocket....
The last I heard she was off to get a price......seems you have telepathy on your side.0 -
You really should not expect the buyer to pay more money for P&P because of your error... they bid and paid for an item as listed, it is not there fault you failed to check postage costs correctly.
I would learn from this, send it, don't charge extra otherwise you risk low DSR's and Negative Feedback!0 -

I'm no telepath, but I am able to read.0
