mortgage lender credit checks

when applying for a mortgage im just wondering how deep the lenders actually delv in to the borrowers details i.e what sort of checks do they do ?

As a broker we use CAIS which show the clients payment profile for the last 6 years. So the lender will use this or one of the credit reference agents, but they will check the last 6 years, why do you need to know whats your credit like?0

They will also ask for whatever information they deem necessary in support of your mortgage application.
