Hi guys would appreciate on some advise and like to hear from others who have also experienced the same and how you solved it.
3 years ago i unfortunately used belmont thornton to reclaim my ppi.after receiving a claim form which only asked for
bank details but i don't remember signing any terms of a contract or agreement etc.i understand that i had to pay a fee to belmont for winning the case but they never communicated with me once the claim was made to what the procedure was and how they will take the fee.
year later from the time i made the claim i received money from the bank yet no correspondence or phone calls from belmont.to my understanding at the time a fee must of been taken from the bank as i never heard from belmont. Now 2 years later i received letter asking for £1248.
I do not have that kind of money so what can be done, what can they do if i don't pay and ignore all reminders? Has anyone had same experience and do you have any advise for me?

They will probably start a court claim.
I helped someone in a similar situation. Fortunately he had declared bankruptcy between the reclaim and the invoice, so we successfully argued to the court that it was a bankruptcy debt.
In your case I would suggest a polite letter requesting a breakdown of the sum claimed from you, and a copy of the original terms if you have lost them.0 -
Sounds strange to me, as usual practice is to take a percentage of the money claimed back, then forward the balance to yourself and you normally have to sign an agreement to that effect, if you didn't sign anything, how can they now be claiming this fee ? Certainly demand more information from them as there working practices seem very unsavoury to my mind !!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
