Mortgage for new build

I have a decision in principle from the lender as I put an offer in for a house but we were unsuccessful. We have now seen a new build house we would like to buy but it is still to be built. It is due to be completed in March 2014. When should the full mortgage application be completed? As part of the application I have to provide three months payslips but I'm about to commence a period of maternity leave where my wages will reduce and full pay will not start again until February so I'm wondering if I might need to return to work earlier to fulfil the requirements. The mortgage is with the Halifax if that makes a difference.

Halifax are fine with it, you have to provide pre maternity slips and the one after.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Most builders will require exchange within 21-28 days after putting your reservation fee down, so full mortgage application should be done within that time frame. That mortgage offer is then good for 6 months, so that might be cutting it close if expected completion isn't till March...
