Why could the OP not be self-employed in this role? It is simply unskilled labour that is around in all sorts of industries. Some very archaic views of how to run a business on here.

Have you actually read the HMRC site regarding determination of what counts as self-employment?

What has being "unskilled labour" got to do with self-employment? Perhaps it is you who have the "very archaic views".

Do you think that self-employment only covers skilled trades? The OP already has self-employment as a cleaner, do you think that homeowner/business should put them on the books? The UK is the easiest place to start up and maintain a business in the world, confusing it with employment rights is completely off base.

It has nothing to do with employment rights. HMRC have strict guidelines on what constitutes employment and what is self-employment. In this case it is likely that she would fail their tests and they would take the view that she is actually employed by the company.
