Burnt his hair/scalp - What can he use as alternative?

hi guys,

my friend, whom in his mid 30's, put on hair dye about a year ago due to some grey hair showing. First it started becoming itchy, but within a couple of hours, his scalp was burning and eventually he had to goto A&E. They said he possibly had an allergic reaction to something in the hair dye (peroxide?)

One year on and since he's getting more and more grey hairs, he was wondering if myself can recommend any natural hair colour products to him that he could try. Thats where I could do with advice from this wonderful forum.

Oh btw, he has jet-black hair :D.

Well, he should have done a skin test. He will need to buy a product he likes the look of and do a skin test, if he has a reaction don't use it and move on to something else.

Surely if he has black hair then dye to cover grey wouldn't have peroxide as surely that would lighten hair?
  • I do apologise, but I'm not sure what chemical it was. That was just a wild guess, hence the question mark after it.

He's happy to try a different product and do a skin-test beforehand, but he doesn't have a clue as to which one to try. Should he only use a natural product or the usual? Which one(s) can you recommend?
