How Do You Knead - I Wouldn't Have the Staying Power!

  • I don't do my kneading by hand any more, thanks to very generous parents who got us a multi-year xmas pressie of a mixer with dough hook. However, when I did knead by hand, I used to make myself a sound track/playlist and put that on. The music helped to distract me and it told me when I cold stop without having to get flour on anything. That said, I don't think I ever kneaded for the full ten minutes, most bread doesn't need nearly that long. I also alternate hands. I'm technically a lefty, but things like kneading I just switch off when one arm gets tired.

Strategic invites of small boys (I made sure my sons regards breadmaking as a High Treat).
The power-weight ratio is impressive, if allowed to use a bit of dough for themselves the results are inexpensive (& entertaining) & you have a reputation for being generous with food portions.

Where minions are unavailable, inconvenient or just unsanitary, go for the dough hook option?

Years ago, before I had skin problems, if I was in a bad mood, I would make dough. Walloping it about certainly helped release my frustration. Hubby thought it was great, as it inevitably meant pizza.
