Call Blocking Companies

I made the mistake of registering with a call blocking company called Nuisance Call Registry. As I had been plagued but it does go through phases, I decided to join. The woman on the phone said that the fee was £42 for life. The e-mail from them said the same. The website says annual.
After reading some bad press I decided to cancel. I e-mailed within seven days and received a very strange e-mail. Written to me but kept referring to HER! They said I had been advised by the caller that fees were not returned (NO) and that I had asked for the service to begin immediately (NO) they said it was 28days.
I wrote to the company cancelling again and demanding reimbursement. That was ignored. Meanwhile I'm still receiving nuisance calls! Where do I go from here?
I have just found out that the company mentioned above also seems to have another name. The link in the e-mail I received from them took me into Call Blocking Service with another/different address.
Thankyou
Nancy

They are never going to do anything to reduce your nuisance calls (how could they?). You have been conned.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

All they will do is register you with the TPS (are you not already registered?), which you can do yourself for nothing. And it still takes 28 days...
These kind of scammers operate under numerous identities. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I got a phone call from a company calling itself the telephone preference company, or at least that is what I heard, but I now know to be prevention, saying that it had been informed that I was receiving lots of PPI calls, true.
I have been reporting all the calls where I could identify the caller to the TPS and assumed it was the real TPS.
The caller then asked me to confirm some details then asked how I was going to pay.
I immediately said OH you must be this scam company calling and pretending to be the TPS as the TPS is free.
The caller started to get a bit agitated and said they had never pretended to be the TPS.
I called the caller a liar and a scammer trying to swindle people out of money and hung up
A minute later I got called back from who I assumed was a manager saying they were not scammers, I told him to F off and hung up.0 -
I'm already with the TPs but didn't make any difference and yes I know I've been conned. The thing is where do I stand re my consumer rights, trading standards etc?Nancy 16 Membership No 147
