Career development loan
Options
Hiya
I don't know if I'm in the right place here but I wondered if anyone could give me some advice. My other half applied for a career development loan which came through in 2004, this was to do a driving instructors course. He paid a deposit of around £800 as the loan only covered 80% of the course cost. He is now paying it back at around £50 per month. He never actually started the course although he received materials such as training manuals and discs so we wondered whether it would be reasonable to try to recover some of the money from the training company. We are on a low income as it is and are struggling with the repayments.
Thanks

If he agreed to take the course and signed a contract then the answer is almost certainly not.
I presume it is not the training company's fault that your oh changed his mind on taking the course and it appears they have kept there half of the bargain by providing the necessary materials.

Thanks for the reply Tom
He couldn't take the course because I couldn't keep up with my job due to illness so he had to work really long hours. I understand what you are saying but I thought it might be worth asking anyway.
