State Pension?

Options
Hi, I am 65 next year but my wife will not be at retirement age for a few years yet. So she will be bringing in about £500 a month. What would my state pension be?

    Your wife's earnings are irrelevant.

You both get pensions completely separately.

You could just ring the DWP up and ask for a pension forecast and nothing to stop your wife doing exactly the same.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Your wife's earnings or her own pension have no effect at all on your state pensions entitlement.

Only if the household might qualify for means tested benefits would her income matter.
  • Thanks for the link - I only have 6 years left to pay to get full entitlement, and I think my 3 year old will settle that for me even if I don't end up back at work full time :)

The system all changes in 2016 and the number of qualifying years is likely to increase to 35, so don't count your chickens too soon :)
