We have bought my grandaughter a baby Anabelle for Christmas and would like to make clothes for it, both sewn and knitted. The ones to buy are so expensive. Please does anyone know of any sites that I can download patterns from. Thank youso much.

There are different sizes of Baby Annabel - but, I have found that if you measure the chest then the arms, you can easily knit from premature baby patterns. I have done this for my GDs as I already had lots of patterns.
If you measure the chest and arms of the doll you have purchased, I would be happy to look out a couple of patterns of matinee jackets, cardies etc for you and email you a copy.
Otherwise there ARE loads of free patterns online. just watch out for American ones as their needle sizes are different as you know.0 -
I know you may want to make them but just thought I would say how tempted I was to buy lovely, hand-knitted outfits available at a car boot sale I went to today. At three or four pounds, I really couldn't believe how much work had gone into them. Might be worth a look. The one I went to today was in Hertfordshire.0

When my daughter was small I used to buy first size or tiny baby clothes for her Baby Annabel in the sales or from charity shops, clothes that size seem to get very little wear. Baby A had an extensive and beautiful collection of clothes for very little cost. I also bought the premmie nappies for next to nothing compared with the cost of Baby A nappies. I am now scouring the supermarkets and CS doing the same for my granddaughter!Slightly bitter0

Preemie clothes in the sale fit Annabell well. My DD had some 5-6lb clothes (she was overdue but still fit into them!), and it's nice to see them on her doll now. Most of the "proper" dolls clothes I think are bit a yuck and plasticy, not to mention expensive for all they are. I used cloth nappies on DD too, and the tiniest ones can be used on her dolls!
