hello, i think i may of asked this question before a while ago, i cant remember nor can i find but anyway
we pay £40 a month csa, child in question is 16, shes pregnant due in February, she still lives with her mother we never see her ( another story), apparently enrolled at college, but never went to school, her mother still claims child benefit 4 her, when her baby comes in February who gets child benefit ?
does the mother of the child who is having a child claim, or can the child (who will still be 16 ) claim for her own baby ?
complicated i know but thanks for reading
any answers greatfully recieved

Either the mother of the child, or the grandmother can claim the child benefit.0

thank you for that, i guess we will have to wait to hear through the grape vine as to who is claiming what as to determine as to whether csa payments stop,
thank you0 -
Ill have this checked next time im in the office, but as far as i know having a child does not make a QC unqalify, but like i said, ill have it checked when i can.0

According to this page:
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/childbenefit/keep-up-to-date/changes-to-report/affect-on-payments.htm
if the child "starts getting benefits in their own right - this will stop your Child Benefit"
Claiming child benefit for her child should mean she is getting benefits in her own right and thus cannot be claimed for her by her mother.0
