Advice needed please... Any mechanics on here? Or legal people even.
Last night we collect a r reg bmw off someone we bought via eBay , we offered them an amount and they accepted. It had mot till march tax till dec and was stated can drive away today.
It didn't start first time at their house, it finally did the guy said it had been stood a week... Fair enough? We drove to fuel station... 2 mile away... It then didn't start, eventually it did but the temp went to red? ... It now starts and goes straight to red? Any ideas? Do I have right to return? Help this is all the money I have ... I emailed him he basically said tough it was fine before! But these issues weren't stated in the ad?!

Was the car sold as seen?
Take it to a garage and find out whats wrong, if the temperature light is on it is likely the thermometer in the coolant has gone, they're easy and cheap to replace. However continuing to drive a car that is over heating can cause the head gasket to blow, not something that anyone wants.0 -
Did you buy through E-Bay or buy buy offering them money outside of E-bay.
However, buying a second hand car is buyer beware in 99.99 % of deals.
You really should have inspected the car in more detail.
If you want protection, you buy from a dealer.Be happy...;)0 -

eBay don't offer buyer protection for cars anyway.
Not much you can do now unless you can prove it was misrepresented.0 -
It doesn't need to state problems in the ad, the question is did it state the problems wern't there in the ad?
You need to do your own due dilligence when buying second hand cars from private sellers and tbh a test drive would have found this problem, you should have done at least that as it is common sense to have a little run in it.0
