Anyone else not receiving payments?

Options
For me, this has been going on for a few months.

The payments into my bank account from the CSA have been very sporadic. Payments missed here and there and then 2 lumped together.

The last time I called about this was about 3 months ago. I called again today and I got the same answer.

I was told that the accounts department computer system was 'broken' :o and that 2 payments had been sitting on my file but hadn't been paid out. A message will be sent to accounts to put it into my bank account. I asked if would have to call every few months to 'remind' the accounts department to deposit the funds and they said hopefully it will be sorted out soon.

Very annoying.

hi just to say, i pay csa through my bank online and when i make payment i get a message saying after a few minutes (or even seconds) of me sending the money, '' payments have been received '' . i presume yr ex gets the same message, or if its taken by his employer its out of his hands, so i dont know what the csa does with it after that, collect interest i presume, oh p.s. i assume they have more than one computer to process payments, sounds like this is totally the fault of the csa and not yr ex, good luck

Oh I wasn't blaming the ex because every time I call the CSA say they have the money but just haven't transfered it.
He pays the CSA, they don't take it from his wages because he is self employed.

Just checked my bank account online and they have just put in 3 weeks worth (what they have been holding onto)....so it takes a phone call to get my money. At least they responded straight away.

What do you mean by 'drip feeding' exactly? Why would they do that? Awaiting Prelude's response. This forum really needs a Mention feature.

Drip feeding is a headache basically, be thankful your not on it and im happy for you.

The basic concept is for whatever reason the system basically screws up and theres nothing on the 2003 system we as caseworkers can do but allow it to "drip feed" the money, meaning for exmaple if someone is due £500 for a months maintenance, it could come in stages of any amount, £2.11 one week, then £240 the next. it is basically a !!!! up. like is said tho, im sure prelude will be able to give more info on why/how it happens.
  • It kind of depends on the circumstances of the case - the most common time this happens is with Deduction From Earnings cases, and it comes about when yearly schedules are changed, and payroll departments get confused about what they should send in, sending more than they should. If CS2 (the CSA computer system for 2003 scheme cases) gets more money than it is expecting, or money before it should get it, then the money sits allocated against future payments, it then drip-feeds this amount out to the PWC.

If this is what is happening then it's quite easy for a caseworker to correct, they just need to set the case to manually allocate the payments against the case, making the NRP/Payroll aware not to send in the next payment (or whatever partial payment is needed to get things back on track). This is why payments sometimes seem to be sent out weekly, as it is when CS2 calculates that the NRP owes another week's maintenance.

In this case, do you think that the NRP is totally up to date with their payments, or were there any arrears? It could be that he's actually paid too soon...or it might well just be some sort of system issue whereby the payments aren't allocating correctly, as the caseworker has advised.

If your NRP is self-employed, and paying regularly without any prompting, is it worth considering maybe going to a private arrangement between the two of you?
  • i was under the impression when a case drip feeds you set it to man check and it goes clerical from that point? Case will go out my hands long before drip feeding so i know little of it, but that was my understanding.

I usually receive payments on a Friday. The last 2 weeks I haven't, nor did I yesterday. This happens at least every 6-8 weeks and the payment usually comes into my bank on either the monday or Tuesday. Annoying.
