Best body lotion ~ sensitive skin

Hello, I've been using Aqueous cream as a body lotion, but now its cold & winter I think I need something with some more oompf!

Any rec's please? I do have sensitive skin as above, and a teeny weeny budget.

Thank youxx

Stop the aqueous cream immediately. It can actually make sensitive skin worse.

Any doctor / nurse / health professional recommending aqueous cream as a moisturizer is extremely out of date.

Try giving your skin a break from any kind of lotion for at least 2 weeks ( preferably 4 ) to give the skin time to heal. It may well look and feel horrid at first, but let it be.

I agree with the above, aqueous cream actually makes sensitive skin worse in the long term. I've been using body shop aloe vera body butter, no added perfume & chemicals etc unlike the other flavours, and it's quite good for my sensitive skin.

I love the body shops aloe range too - the body butter is lovely and I have very sensitive skin with eczema. I also use Vaseline intensive rescue body lotion that is fragrance free and doesn't irritate me.
I really need to sort out a new signature!
  • Wow, didn't know that.
I have looked at the body shop site and will try the aloe when as Fen says 4 weeks have gone by.
May I also ask which shower gel you would recommend?
    Thanks again

I have been using Johnson's body care Dreamy Skin as my skin is sensitive. I'm not sure they still do it as I can't find it in my local Boots or Superdrug at the moment. It's in a lilac tub, but worth getting it you can find it.
  • I have Aveeno on prescription, although it may be cheaper to buy from Amazon if you pay for yours. They also do a good face cream (also available on prescription) if the cold causes you problems there.

I love the smell of that stuff! Unfortunately I don't think they make it any longer :(

I wouldn't know really, I used to love Garnier Nutralia but then it was discontinued, so now I stick to Simple soap. All other normal shower gels get me itching, I think it might be because they contain detergents and soap doesn't. As for creamy shower gels, I don't really feel clean after having showered in them.

It may be worth blitzing your entire cupboard, but doing it step by step to really find out what irritates and what doesn't.

Every 4 weeks, change ONE thing.

    Shampoo
    Conditioner
    Face wash
    Soap
Deoderant ( my OH is allergic to aluminium of all kinds, so getting deoderant that doesn't make him itch is a minefield )
Washing powder ( actually worse on Fairy Non-Bio )

    These are the obvious ones.

I'm also allergic to certain essential oils and perfumes ( real and synthetic ). Lavender oil is often included in things for sensitive skin, but it's actually one of the worst for me! You will find that it is a long and tricky journey, and that what works for you might be awful for your OH. best of luck - and no itchiness - to you both

I have sensitive skin too and I use Sainsbugs or Trescos own brand body lotion, vitamin E i think it is. Not had any probs at all and it is a lot cheaper than previous brands I used
2019, move forward with positivity! I am the opposite of Eyeore :rotfl:

I have eczema and sensitive skin and love Garnier Intensive 7 Days Daily Body Lotion. Aveeno is also good, but I prefer the feel of the Garnier. Oddly enough I find a lot of the eczema/sensitive skin brands upset my skin.
