When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

    Hi Friday Money Savers,
Ooh, wish I'd done some washing overnight to peg out, as after a dark dull start, the sun has suddenly come out & it's breezy & bright.
    Today's small money-saving things:
*Clean entire house using minimal products (I mostly still just use my annual bottle of Stardrops diluted in a spray bottle).
*Cover cat's expensive 'special diet' food when I'm not in the kitchen.....robbing neighbourhood cat back on the scene. Don't know who he is but he can eat his bodyweight in cat biscuits that don't belong to him!
*Ordered nephew's Christmas present from John Lewis. It was a better price than the Lego website, plus I could use a voucher I had, to knock another £5 off, & get click & collect to local Waitrose to avoid p&p costs.
*Do meal plans for next week, & provisionally for rest of October.
*Write shopping list for grocery shopping tomorrow. £50 a week budgeted for Oct.
    *Do a couple of surveys.
*Round up all the windfall pears.
*Find pear chutney recipe to use up smaller/bashed ones.
*Pick remaining baby aubergines & basil to use in tonight's pasta.
*Go through latest Avon catalogue to find cheap mascara (Money saving convert or not, I don't even hang the washing out without it!)
*Do some more research on this strange letter we've received from the Land Registry about rights to minerals, etc, under our house. Lots of these have been sent out to villages in this locality. Am willing to bet it's the thought of any potential fracking rights that has prompted it. Questions I want to look at: If I contest it, will this cost me money? What happens if somebody asserts their rights to minerals under our street? How does this work in conjunction with our property being 'freehold'. Despite having 3 degrees between us, we are both having to unpick this letter line by line to extrude any semblance of meaning! The instruction to 'seek legal advice' if we don't understand it just even smells expensive......
Oh well, that's me for today.
Keep your hands on your pennies. They're hard earned & easily lost.
    Cheers,
    foxgloves x

  • NSD slightly off track - bought a can of juice in work for 75p :o

I'll let myself off as I've not spent a penny all week :rotfl:

Keep going, you will get there!
