Outdoor lights

So my kiddies have (already) asked if we can have fairy lights outside. How they remember at 3 and 4 that we haven't had any before is beyond me. But, anyway, I thought I'd get some simple white icicle lights just to bob along the front of the house.

But I know nothing about these things and have spent over an hour browsing for info (lots in American) on how / where to plug them in.

So, any advice? Do you light up? Some sites say the LED ones with an indoor transformer have a fine enough cable to feed in through a closed upvc window (the rubber seal). Is this right? Is t really that simple?



Also, just for fun, do you know anyone who goes all out on decs? Our street do lights but quite understated. The estate round the corner however has some pretty full on ones. The kids love to go round the streets just looking at Christmas light

We put up a small amount of lights outside at Christmas.

Any lights that say suitable for outdoor use on them will be fine for using outside, we then either have the cable coming in through a window or through the garage to be plugged in on a timer.

Some of my favourite Christmas memories from when I was little was driving around looking at all the Christmas lights!

I have several sets outside. the icicle type from the roof, plugged in through the bedroom window. 3 sets coming out of the living room windows, these go to one tree and in one bush and in a lantern wrapped round ivy. the ones in the apple tree are my favourite. I have mirrored baubles, silver, in the tree and they glint off the lights.

then I have several sets coming out of my letterbox, to one side. one is to another lantern, one is for a light up wreath, one is in a hanging basket, one is on a trellis and one runs down the drive. all of them are white.

in the back garden I have coloured and there is only me that see these. I have 2 sets twinkling. one round the pond and one going round the garden. these are plugged in through the kitchen window.

I have built mine up over the years. :j
