Tax and Duty Charges
Customs law requires that all applicable Duties and Taxes must be paid for shipments entering the UK. By placing an order with DrJays.com, you agree to pay the duties and taxes charged by Customs at the time of delivery. Customs duty and Value-Added Tax (VAT) will be payable, as follows:
* Customs duty – Typically 12-20% of product price (based on product characteristics)
* Tax – Typically 17.5% of total order cost (including shipping cost)
* Advancement Fees – FedEx fee for processing of duties/fees (currently $8.00 USD)
Remember that all prices on the site are in U.S. Dollars
For further assistance in understanding and estimating taxes and duties please, visit HMRC at http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/ or contact HM Revenue & Customs at email address Enquiries.estn@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk or phone number 0845 010 9000.

I have bought stuff from US online stores. it all depends on the value of what you buy and how the store marks the customs label.
There are 2 options, some stores are good and mark them as a gift you can get away with more if they mark them as a gift £32 I think. If it is marked as merchendise you get up to £18 before getting charged anything. if it is marked as merchendise and it is ofer £18 you will be charged all the fees VAT and duty. when things are marked as gifts they are a lot less likely to hit you for fees. I have had stuff come over marked at $120+ and as a gift and not be charged, I have had stuff come as merchendise for $28 when the exchange rate was worse and get hit for fees and stuff it resulted in the cheap pair of jeans work out at almost double what I was paying for them in the first place. the duty and vat isnt too bad but the fees the post office charge or the courier company are stupid. if it comes by courier you are almost certain to be hit for fees as they can make a little more money from the delivery.0 -
Thanks Little John
