Dark Circle Concealer

Options
Hi all,

Does anyone have any recommendations for concealers that correct dark circles and puffy eyes?

I have tried a few in the past (YSL, estee lauder, bare minerals and many others).

I drink mainly water and quite a bit but due to Fibro/CFS, I struggle with quality sleep so I know this will affect things.

Any tips appreciated!!

Yeah not getting enough sleep is not going to help, I suffer with dark circles myself as am fair and have problems sleeping sometimes.

However I can only give you makeup advice as a Makeup Artist Student.

You want to look out for concealers that have a peach tone to it. Peach or Pink colours will neturalise the dark shadow under your eye and brighten it. You want to go for a light reflecting type so its not heavy and empthasing wrinkles.

I really like Boujours Healthy Mix concealers for dark circles and this was advised by my Makeup Tutor.

I also really like E.L.F Studio Corrective Concealer in neturalise and brighten. Its pretty cheap at just under £4. Its online only though.

If you have the money (guessing you don't mind splashing out on higher end products as you said you tried YSL, Estee Lauder) then I'd recommend you go to either MAC or Bobbi Brown they are trained professionals unlike the likes of the Makeup Counters in Boots, Debenhams and so on. They can offer better advice and have a lot more to offer. Remember to always try a sample first before you buy it. Go out in the day light and wear it all day to see if it really does what you want before buying it. Any good high end brand will be happy enough to give you a sample.

as been said above mac have some great products. personally i use their prep and prime as a base for my under eye concealer and it also brightens. I was lucky to receive 'confessions of a concealerhollic' a pallet of concealers from benefit. it has all the right colours for under eye concealing!

  • Haven't found anything that works for me. I have Clinque's little tube 'Even better eyes' with the cold massage applicator. But, in all honestly its done nothing at all to hide the circles for me.
  • This stuff is amazing, cant rate it highly enough and I've tried loads including premium products http://www.boots.com/en/Collection-2000-Illuminating-Touch-Concealer_867449/
  • I use virgin vie correct and perfect. It has 2 beige colours (light & dark) a pale green and a pale lilac. I was advised to use the lilac on the dark circles under the eyes when getting make up lessons for my friends wedding (so we could do our own on the day). I was sceptical but it works and I wouldn't be without it now. Something to do with reflecting the light away...

Would the Collection 2000 one work on spots as well, do you think, or would I be better off with the other concealer in their range as more of an all-rounder?

I really need a new concealer, I've about run out of the one I was using but I've had it so long I don't know what it is or even if it's still sold anymore! I think it might have been a Collection 2000 one which is why I was thinking of looking at those. I hate makeup shopping, I've got really pale skin and find it difficult to find shades that match me for things like concealer and foundation.

The collection 2000 Lasting Perfection is a good all-rounder :)

As above poster said Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection is amazing (I really can't rate it enough) for spots or blemishes. I have most high end concealors and none of them do as good a job as this. Its raved about highly in the beauty bloggers world.

I wouldn't use the illuminate on spots just anything that conceals dark circles is bound to have a light reflecting quality to brighten and you don't want to highlight (which is what light reflection does I suppose) your blemishes.

I usually just put two tea spoons in the freezer then take them out and put them on my eyes.

They work but it's not a permanent solution. I hear cucumbers work great too! :)
