Hi, I recently applied for 3 different types of credit one being a credit card with RBS which I successfully got with a credit limit of over £2k which is my first ever credit card. I also applied for a mortgage with my partner but due to his poor credit rating was refused. Additionally I applied for an unsecured loan of £4k via moneysupermarket.com which was reccommended by Martin's site.
The experian advisor on the site said that I had good credit and therefore was in good stead to get a loan. I applied through Northern Rock but was unsuccessful, which was around 2 weeks ago. All the credit applications were over the last 2 months.
I am looking to find out how long I will now have to wait to apply again for a loan so would be really grateful for any advice anyone has to offer.
Thanks Rachael

best to check your credit records with all three of the agencies.
also best to check your partner's too. it must be prettty bad to be refused a mortgage assuming you have a decent deposit... which brings me to asking why do you want a loan.. if you are serious about buying a house and getting a mortgage then you must start saving a deposit not borrowing money.
dont open any account with your OH. If you do you will be financially linked to him and your credit rating will be adversly affected.
why is his rating so bad and what is he doing about it0 -
Thanks for the advice Clapton ,
We are putting off getting a mortgage at present as he is currently improving his credit rating through buying stuff on his credit cards and paying them off in full each month. He is also in the process of gaining a copy of his credit rating to assess the damage. Additionally, we are saving up a deposit.
The loan is a small(ish) loan for a car. I think I may have read somewhere that I should wait 3 months before reapplying for credit, does this ring any bells with anyone?
Thanks for any advice!
