    Well, in case anyone is interested...

    I ended up buying the TomTom Multisport with HRM. Got a good deal on eBay - about £120 instead of the £230 RRP and it's been tested out and works great. Can't really compare to anything else but it seems a good design.

    I use a Polar RC3 and find it brilliant! for £130 from sports shoes it was great value
