Morning
Gosh it's gone cold today but I won't put the heating on I'll put a jumper on:D I started challenging myself with how long we could hold off putting the heating on each year and need to beat the year before. Last year it didn't go on until November.:p I'm not cruel though we all have heated beds and the kids spend their time in their beds playing x boxes anyway. I have blankets for me on the sofa. My Dad puts his coat on when he comes in:p:rotfl:
Since it has gone cold I thought I'd share my homemade french onion soup recipe. You need 3-4 medium onions, 3 beef or chicken stock cubes, 2 pints ish off water and a drizzle of oil.
Finely slice the onions and heat the oil in a large saucepan. Add the onions and cook until softened. Crumble in the stock cubes and add the water until just above the onions bring to the boil whilst stirring. Leave to simmer for 15minutes and season to taste. I serve it with a slice off cheese on toast floating in it as a delicious meal.
Tonight I'm making my spag bog so I shall come back and post the recipe and method shortly.0 -

This is just what I need:j:j
I used to spend around £60 a week on shopping for 5 of us and the dog, but I've noticed that it's creeping up to £70:mad: I shall follow with interest and hopefully this will motivate me to plan a bit better! I quite like to cook but with 3 kids under 7 and work time is my biggest problem. I did make banana muffins for breakfast yesterday with a couple of bananas that were heading for the bin! Also been lucky with some whoopsies lately, 2 packs of turkey breast for 75p each and a pack of naan breads for 40p.

Hi there :hello:
Consider me subscribed - I think this thread will help me out in a BIG way. I am a stay at home mummy and what you might politely call "not a natural cook". Eating I love, planning and preparing meals is just not my thing. However, I am super aware of what we should and shouldn't be eating, prepare all meals from scratch and am the person responsible for trying to do all this on a budget so this will, and has already, given me the inspiration to branch out with my meals. So thank you! And I look forward to readingDebt Oct '13 - [STRIKE]£44,076[/STRIKE] £41,578 5.7% cleared0 -

I have just found this thread and it is inspiring, thanks op!!
My problem is I love my dinners with lots of veg, some potato and a little meat were as my hubby doesn't like dinner and he isn't very keen on veg. There only is the two of us and it is difficult to cook a meal we will both eat, these days I am lucky to get dinner once a week!! :eek:0 -
Please come back dizzyditzy. I was really enjoying this thread and what you were doing. Shame it never took off.Sealed Pot Challenge 7 - #253
