Emergency Credit Card - please don't judge me!!

I currently have a Capital On CC  with an APR of 34.9% , I've had it for about 4 years now as I applied for it when I was in a bit of trouble. Now my credit file is a bit better I want a new Credit Card - I will not use it unless it is an absolute emergency - like my car blows up and I have NO other money, I want to cancel my capital one card but i do need a Credit Card for sheer emergencies and I do mean emergencies I have learnt my lesson now :A The only problem is that my credit score still isn't good but it is a lot better than it was, does anyone have any suggestions about what card to apply for as I don't want to apply for a CC, it to show on my credit file and get rejected

Thanks

Stokegal (almost typed real name by mistake   )

hi if your credit isnt top notch, the best cards to try will less apr, are...

    barclaycard initial.... 27.9 apr

even virgin are quite giving when it comes to cc at 15.9 apr..

also halifax, as they have 3 rates of apr...

dont apply for all 3 try one then see.....
if you dont sucseed wait 3 -4 months try another x
  • Presumably you have a current account. If your credit file is in better shape than it was, why not approach the Bank that manages your current account? If you go to the branch in person, they might be able to discuss the situation based upon what they know about you, and tell you the likelihood of approval before you submit a formal application. If they say it is unlikely to be approved, then you would at least not have the declination showing on your file.

    Good luck!

Something that helped me - Open a littlewoods account (littlewoods.com), they have a deal of getting £15 or so off your first order, buy a few socks/pants or something and then pay off the due balance each time on your 4 weekly statement (interest free). Littlewoods accept nearly everyone.

After 6 months you are very likely to be able to apply for the Littlewoods Credit Card (a VISA card administered by Barclays with a unique 3 month interest free repayment system).
