hiya im stumped as to what to give my dd (9) on a tuesday and thursday for a 'snack type thing' as she gets in from school about 3:50 and gets picked up at 4:15 for kick boxing. she has her breakfast at school with their breakfast club so i know she has a decent feed there as theyre keeping an eye on her as shes a terrible eater and soooooo slow whilst eating (e.g a sandwich takes her 10 mins to eat). she also takes a packed lunch and school provide free fruit to eat (whick she loves).
the prob i have is what can i make (prep/cooking time isnt really an issue) that she can eat in approx 15 mins? i do make her a 'tea' when she gets in at 6:45 but i dont want her to go without food from dinnertime to her getting in. today she had a cheese toastie and that got eaten, but im really stumped as to what i can give her...........

any suggestions please?:D
does my bum look big in this sig?

Rich Tea biscuits do a slow release of energy and are often eaten by diabetics because of their properties. I also know that a large number of sports people eat them for the same reason. A boost of energy which is sustained ... just what a gal needs for kick boxing!

    Hi carrie,

If she's slow at eating what about a drink.....my lot are always starving after school and love smoothies and banana milk shakes etc, all made very quickly and easily with a hand blender.

Also: scones, pancakes, muesli bars, cheese on toast, yoghurts etc

There are lots more ideas on this older thread:

I'd suggest something like a flapjack and a banana with a glass of milk- banana's give a quick burst of energy while the oats provide a more slow release energy. Milk provides protein which helps to keep hunger at bay.

    Other protein/carb combinations -
    Dried fruit & nuts
    Pitta of muffin mini pizzas
    Cheese & crackers
    Cereal & milk
    Houmous and veggie dips
    Banana bread & yogurt
    Peanut butter on toast
    Bagel & cream cheese
    Tuna pasta salad
