I know NVQs have to be completed alongside a work placement which isnt something i can do until next september now with my local college as the course has already started.
Does anyone know which is better to study a Level 3 NCFE Accredited Teaching Assistant, Level 4 NCFE Accredited Higher Level Teaching Assistant or Level 3 CACHE Award in Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools!
Thank you in advance0 -
i should imagine you will need to train to be a teaching assistant before being a hlta as a hlta usually oversee teaching assistants in the school and in the schools I was in were often used for teachers ppa time as cover:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one

I would also like to be a teaching assistant.Im wondering which is the better route to go down, volunteering 12 hours a week and three hours a week college and getting a CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
or doing full time 2 year course in Level 3 CACHE Extended Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce0 -
I'm currently having the same issue. I applied to a recruitment and training agency and they said that I would need the level 2 or 3 QCF before they would put me forward for jobs at all.
I have been a full time EFL teacher for the last two years continuously in the same high school. I have no teaching assistant to help me and sometimes up to 30 kids to teach. I have a TEFL already too and I can lesson plan in my sleep.
Moreover, before this job, I spent years travelling and teaching and I was a voluntary TA for a year while I was still in high school (final year) too.
Now, I'd like to move back home and be a TA but it seems very difficult to get in the door from what I've been told. I'm thinking about taking the NCFE through Groupon because I simply can't afford the QCF. Again, though, will it be a waste of money. Do schools even take them seriously??
I'm just not sure which route to take...0
