Worried about ID theft

Hello everyone, I am completely new to this and am unsure about entering competitions that require name DOB & address as I wonder if my ID could be stolen.
What do you all do when a comp requests this?

I'm not sure it would even be possible for your id to be stolen from just your name and DOB, but if you're worried about it you could use a fake DOB perhaps just a year out so you could put it down to a mistake if the comp holders question it, or some compers use a different / slightly adjusted name.
