Targeted Clubcard Marketing

Please Forgive me if this seems like a rant but I am new to the forum and wonder whether anyone else has similar views. :mad:I have a Tesco Clubcard as they have a large “Extra” store near my wife's work and I also buy all my fuel there ( I have a company fuel card and Tesco is a preferred (read CHEAP) supplier. I regularly get Clubcard “Targeted Marketing” vouchers which apparently reflect purchases I have made with regularity but here’s the catch – If you don’t read the fine print you go to the store and select the item expecting a healthy discount but find the checkout operator won’t take the coupon because it is for some obscure size that you don’t normally buy or the store doesn’t stock. Being a cynic I believe it is a deliberate ploy or as they say in retail a “loss leader”.

Combine this with the almost total absence of any staff on the floor when you can’t find what you're looking for because they regularly reorganize and move the location of products without changing the signage and the overwhelming feeling that Tesco believes it can treat its customers like cattle because they are saving money or too busy to go elsewhere and you reach an inevitable truth: Why shop somewhere that does not respect me and doesn’t believe I have the intelligence to go elsewhere.
