How many people do this....Spend according to what they earn…..And i mean HIGH Earners that have disposable income.

Recently I’ve actually got a new job too and the pay was atleast 30% better….But my spending habbits have not changed really….

Spend £150 a month for food for 2 of us and our dog.

Bar the household expenses (which includes petrol costs: £75 last month), last month my personal spending came to £199.45 (doesn't include the above food budget or petrol budget). This included a couple of unexpected expenses like a dentist visit and a bit of a splurge at a body shop party! Oops! It also included a takeaway each week for me and OH.

I have a high income (top tax bracket) and a high monthly expenditure. As much as I like to save, it proves impossible to get through the month without impulse buys.

  • I still do awful with grocery shopping, I struggle to get it below 400 with 3 of us and a dog. We always take lunch to school and work and I quite often have fresh veg in the week and weekends and we eat fruit. HELP, £1 a meal OMG how am I going to achieve that, it possibly doesn't help that I'm really fussy with meat and mostly buy from butchers but i'd serious love to lower this to £250
  • To be honest....Lunch is big spend for most......

School meals are 10.50 per child per week.

So if you have 3 children it will cost you 126 per month...
  • After paying bills, savings, transport and driving lessons (which maybe should count as personal spend but are pretty essential considering where I now work). I have £400 a month left in my budget.

About £100 a month goes on books, DVDs or nights out. Between £120 and £175 on groceries. Then depending on what's happening that month up to £100 is left over at the end and gets chucked into savings. So I spend between £300-350 a month on 'stuff' for one person.

I spend £160-180 for food and household items each month for two (soon to be three) of us. I used to get by on £120 for this, but have relaxed the budget a bit recently to get slightly nicer brands, nicer veg and more treats :o. This includes about 60% of lunches at work.

I then spend about £100 on personal spends - coffees at work (there's a supplemented starbucks at my work :D), cash out for random stuff like haircuts or getting my nails done, any treats I want and about 2-3 takeaways a month.

And about £50 a month (when we can) for date nights (maybe 2 month).

So a total of £310-330 for 2 of us.
