What happens before discharge?

Hello everyone,

I was just wondering what happens in the lead up to being discharged?

I spoke to my OR today who told me my case was eligible for early discharge, no confirmed date yet.

Do you have to fill out any forms similar to when you go prepare for bankruptcy or is it just straight forward?

Apologies if this has been posted before but people's circumstances change daily.

    For early discharge then in theory this is the procedure:

    Note: Some of the acronyms mean:

    RTC = Report To Creditors
    NFI = No Further Interest (or equivalent)
    EDREV = Early Discharge Review.
    EDNOT = Early discharge notification.

    The timeline works like this:
    • OR sends out EDNOT and IPOQ: You have 14 days to reply + 7 for postage delays.
    • Admin: No. of days depends how busy OR is.
    • OR writes to creditors to ask if any object to ED: They have 28 days to reply + 7 for late submissions.
    • Admin: No. of days depends how busy OR is.
    • EDNOT sent to court: No. of days until endorsed by the court depends on how busy the court is.
    • You are discharged on date of court endorsement.
    You can see there are many potential delays in the system, plus even more should a creditor object to your discharge.
    If the OR is too busy with new cases, then the ED can also get shelved at any point.

    Thank you so it's basically like a mini review of your finances, personal circumstances again.

    Nothing is ever straight forward is it?

    Not often.:confused:

    One important thing to remember is that many people are told by the OR that their case is suitable for early discharge, and then it doesn't happen. This seems to be because the OR's are too busy dealing with new cases at some offices.

    So just look at ED as a bonus if it happens, but not something you should expect.

    Agreed, I was told that ED was likely but the office we are with are very busy so don't expect it, just wait and see.

    I keep meaning to post it as one elsewhere. But I need to write some more in-depth explanation to go with it. Either that or re-design the flow chart myself, putting all the steps in clearer English.

    But there are lots of things I keep meaning to get around to.:confused:
