I purchased this camera just over a year ago. It cost me £250 in January 04. It's really fantastic and I've been delighted with it. The optical zoom is fantastic, and I even used the continous shooting mode to take a picture of a water droplet falling from a leak in my roof.
I don't know if £169 is the cheapest you can get it for now, but I would reccomend getting it!

    Seems like a good price.

The DX6490 is also available for the same price at Dixons if Currys run out of them. I don't think you get the discount voucher with Dixons though?.

A lot of new digital cameras are coming out at the moment so yesterdays models can be picked up cheaply around now.
Ye'!, And!!?. How am I supposed to know?

Other than this camera, can anyone please recommend a 4mg pixel + camera - with decent optical zoom (and digital), motion recording and slim in design?

    Thanks.

Better with this 4Meg Nikon (they actually are a lens, and camera manufacturer) for 110 pounds plus p+p. Trust me, use a Nikon, then see how inferior the others are, and at this price, rip their arm off.

rather than just picking one you think is good, check out what the experts think!! http://www.dpreview.com :)
  • I've got the 4100 and confirm its a good camera (but prefer my old 2000). I would always go for Nikon - great cameras (much better than the Kodak and Fujis I have tried). Make sure you get a high speed SD card though else 4MP can be very slow

    Beware!

I bought a Kodak digital. Kodak replaced it, twice. All three simply stopped working: two of them within a few days of starting holidays - leaving me with a very limited record.

I now have a Fuji Finepix and wouldn't touch a Kodak with the proverbial barge pole. YMMV.
