You have to do what they told my partner - if a job states 'no experience necessary' then he MUST apply for it whatever the job title or role. He was also told he cannot just look for jobs in and around his local area - he HAS to apply for jobs up to 20miles away, even though he doesn't drive and would have to rely on public transport.
I think there may be some confusion here, especially if that is what the adviser has said. The point about no experience is generally correct although I agree with your summary on other posts but the distance is a red herring. It is supposed to be 90 minutes travel (now where did I park my Typhoon last night?*). To be honest, I would consider 120 minutes travel given where I live (not telling so there, you will have to guess ) and what is around me and despite public transport being pretty good (I have a driving license but I cannot afford a car for obvious reasons) some individual places could be out of reach. In that case, I would have to justify this if challenged by a JC adviser but because transport timetables are an absolute, the advisers have to accept this, particularly for shift work.
As an amusing aside, David Cameron quoted a few years ago that job seekers should be penalised if they refused a job more than 90 minutes away. Quite a few people pointed out the flawed logic in what was behind this statement - that there was no Nirvana with loads of jobs situated 90 minutes travel time away from every job seeker. :rotfl:
* David Cameron scrapped my Harrier so parking is a pain in the Typhoon.0 -
The OP is talking about the claimant commitment which will soon replace all JSAG's. It's all in preparation for universal credit and all people claiming working age benefits including WTC and CTC will have one.0
