Hotel win possible if you live in the area?

So, I live in London and see a lot of "win a luxurious London hotel stay" kind of competitions, I enter them as there are usually cash spends and other parts of the prize which looks good and also, I can keep my bedsheets on for an extra night! :rotfl:

BUT is it actually possible for me to win these!? Has anyone that lives in an area won a hotel stay in the area.. not just london..

Do let me know I've not won one yet and I have a feeling i'm wasting my time entering them!

I honestly can't see any reason why living in the area would stop you from winning. I did win won of these years ago as a raffle prize. That was a hotel in the area and was obviously going to be won by someone local.

There are many reasons why someone would want to win something like this locally: for visitors, for a special night or two in luxury, to chuck the husband out when he's snoring too loud - the last being my personal fave reason, and so on.

If you wanted to, you could email one or two comp hosts to check, to put your mind at rest, but I would be very surprised if they minded where the winner lived.

I live in Surrey and have won 2 big London hotel stays in the past few years. One from VisitLondon and the other from a magazine comp.

When I contacted the companies to arrange my stays the fact that I live just outside London was never mentioned.

So go for it and enter!

I know it'a not in London but I won a hotel in Cardiff & entered from my old address a few miles outside

A couple of years ago I won two nights in a city hotel 9 miles from home. Still a great break!

& enjoyed the break away from home,
even though it was only 10 miles or so away
was lovely to be waited on & cooked for :j

I sincerely hope so, as I ONLY enter for hotel stays that are within about half an hour's drive!! I wouldn't leave my kids for more than a night or two, and I wouldn't want to be at the other end of the country if there were an emergency, so I tend to only enter local hotel comps! As yet I'm still waiting for a win but I would really hope they wouldn't discount me cos of being local!!

I've won twice, one was a stay at The Cavendish with a box at the Opera for 4 people and the other was The Pelham in Kensington with afternoon tea included (in the king suite which can go for £600 per night :eek:), I'm in East London

Ah Thanks all! gives me a bit more hope! those prizes that goes with the hotel stays sound really nice, which is one of the reasons why I do enter! I guess unless stated in the T&C they can't discount us if we live within a certain proximity of the hotel! *shifty eyes* but may be we'll never know if some companies do take where we live into consideration when picking winners....!

I had a mystery shop for a hotel 4 miles from where I live. The hotel took down my address for the booking and confirmed it when we arrived, and no one battered an eyelid! I think it must be quite common or, rather, not unheard of. So if that staff didn't think it was unusual, hopefully competitions won't discount you for being "local".
