Hi
I need to transfer money from France to the U.K. Last time I did it i used Travelex which wasn't too bad and saved a fortune compared to the usual bank fees. Was wondering if there are any better companies around. It is to buy a house so it is a reasonable sum.
Thanks

We will be receiving rental income for a property in Germany. What is the cheapest way to receive that money and can anyone tell me of any potential fees etc besides the obvious currency exchange factor?
Should we leave it in a German bank account and transfer once a year or transfer it every month into our current account? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I would like to transfer some money from an account in the Netherlands where i have been working (all tax paid etc) into a uk account. Can anyone suggest a way of doing this to minimise charges from banks/exchange rates etc0

You can make an international bank transfer for free (or low cost*) from the Netherlands to the UK. (See EU/EEA directive 2560/2001 or ask your bank for details.)
The transfer must be in Euros using your BIC + IBAN details (printed on your UK bank statements) with Shared costs selected. Most such transfers take between a few hours to several business days to be credited to your UK bank account.
The cost (if any) to send the transfer will be the same as for a domestic bank transfer (overboeking).
The exchange rate is usually very good at around mid-market.

Cheapest and safest way to transfer your friend's money would be to do a bank transfer using BIC + IBAN in Euros with Shared costs (Frais partagés). The cost will be identical to that charged for a domestic transfer to a French bank so quite cheap. No cost on the UK side and usually a very good exchange rate too. BIC + IBAN details are listed on all UK bank statements."Money is truthful. If a person speaks of their honour, make sure they pay in cash."0 -
Could anyone recommend a cheap way to regularly transfer money from Ireland to the UK? I need to be able to transfer €600 from Ireland to the UK on a monthly basis. It works out a bit pricey using my bank (Bank of Ireland to Natwest).0

Customers in the Republic of Ireland (Eire) can send an international bank transfer to the UK for the same cost* as a domestic transfer to an Irish bank. (See EU/EEA directive 2560/2001 or ask your bank for details.)
The transfer must be in Euros, using your BIC + IBAN details (on your UK bank statements) with Shared costs selected. Most transfers take between a few hours to several business days to be credited to your UK bank account.

Though, of course, that directive only covers getting your Euro to your UK bank. As now, they will be able to charge for converting them to Pounds, so check that cost.0
