Single skin wall

We have a bungalow which has been extended. It appears that the old par has single skin walls with a solid core of approx 180 mm on which there is external and internal render giving overall thickness of 230 mm. We have been told that mortgage companies will not lend on this construction. A builder has said that the easiest way to get over the problem is to dry line the walls. There is no damp or settlement affecting the walls. Any advice or knowledge would be appreciated.
