still nothing from the OR

Hi everyone,

Went BR on 6th sept, spoke to the OR's examiner on 9th & explained that a holiday had been booked & paid for by a family member, ( it was just a few days here in uk), he was v understanding & said it wasn't a problem as it wasn't extravagant & wasn't for long, but i still haven't got any info re my interview, is this normal? also could i join a credit union in my circumstances? i would want to pay money in to buy oil for heating & would like it seperate from my cashminder account, also for any one worried if the co op are going to close your account,i have my acc since july 2010 & i informed the OR of the account when my BR went through, he said he would tell them he had no interest in it & touch wood so far it's been fine (my dd for tv licence) went out on 16th & iv'e been able to withdraw money no problem, so if you are worried re your cashminder account i would say as long as you opened it pre BR you should be able to use it as normal. Thanks for reading.

Or's are very busy people so they will interview you when they get round to doing it - it was only 3 weeks since your BR after all. If you have any questions in the meantime then call them and ask about your concerns and when they think the interview will be
  • Hi - I went BR in June, my interview was within 10 days but then I only got my IPA to sign this week. I did have a letter saying they were not interested in my car but that's it. To be honest - I don't know if there is any more.
If you think you will have an IPA I would not be in any rush to remind them...they will get to you when they are ready.
If you want to put money away for larger annual/bi-annual expenditure a CU would be perfect and I highly recommend them (New convert) they are open to everyone, including BR's and you are not breaking any rules opening one. I intend to keep mine after BR as having my savings (oooh - its so lovely to be able to say 'savings' for the first time in years!!) deducted from my salary makes it easier. I cant get car or contents insurance by instalments so I'm saving in the CU for that (and MOT/Tax etc)
  • Thanks for your replies, the gardener i don't think i will have an IPA as i'm on ESA since June '12 after a bad accident & am unable to work, glad to hear there's no harm in opening a CU account, if this whole sorry experience has taught me anything it's now appreciating the value of money, i will never get into a financial mess like this again, it has taught me a very hard lesson, do you know if i have to tell the OR of my intention to open an account with my local CU?:)
  • My Coop current account remained opened after BR, although bizarrely they closed my 'savings' account that had zero balance.

As someone else was paying for your holiday, it's irrelevant whether it was extravagant or not. If you're not paying for it, it makes no difference to your financial position. Similarly, there's nothing to stop you driving around in a Ferrari if it is legitimately owned and maintained by someone else. I don't think there's a 'Spirit of Bankruptcy' technical guidance note...

Admittedly, if might be a bit annoying for creditors to watch a BR debtor swanning off to the Maldives for a luxury holiday :-)

No you don't have to tell the OR as far as I am aware. The OR is only interested in your cash and assets, not what accounts you have (after BR) If you are talking about squirreling away a few pounds each week for larger bills they wont be interested at all.
