If inflation is getting out of control it may not have a choice...

AFAIK, inflation we are witnessing is not linked with low interest rates. This low interest rate has not materialised into cheap credit for a common person. Rather people are inclined to save more despite the low return on the savings simply because of the bleak future of the pensions.

This inflation is the sole by-product of unchecked profiteering culture of the private sector in food, energy and transport areas. What amazes me is the low interest rates give these companies a smoke screen for hiking their prices and everyone blames low interest rates for inflation.

There's good and bad inflation. Good inflation is when the economy is performing well, and incomes rise. Bad inflation is when costs rises due to external factors, i.e. imported goods, over which nobody including the BOE has any sphere of influence.

Our home to value is 117%.

Are you sure about the LTV? Prices have been generally flat or even risen a little over the last 2 years and presumably you had to put down some deposit 2 years ago to get a mortgage so it seems strange you are so far in negative equity?
    I think....

Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

    Who is your lender Kiri?

They may be able to offer you a lower priced fixed rate to switch on to.

Northern Ireland. The negative equity could be underestimated. Prices are down 55%+
