Why would Bow County Court phone me?

Hi,

Hope it's ok to post in this forum - I wasn't really sure where to put this..

I had a missed call today from a 0208 number, I tried ringing back a few times at lunch and it just rang and rang with no answer. I tried phoning again after work and it went straight to a message saying "Bow County Court is now closed" ect.

Now I'm really worried about why they are phoning me. I'm not aware of any outstanding debt, and I haven't had any threatening letters.

My only concern is if it was something to do with my old business (closed December 2011) as the letter would go to my old business address but I'm not aware of any outstanding debt and surely I would have heard before now?

Their website says
Main Aims: County Court that deals with Civil, Divorce and Family cases.

I live in North Wales and Bow is very far away from me

Can anyone give any clues why a court would phone me? I thought they would do everything by post so I'm a bit confused and panicky about this.

I am hoping that maybe this is a scam as the number I got a call from isn't the same as the number I can find online for bow county court.

The number that rang me is 0208 536 8630
Number on website is 0208 536 5200

So the numbers aren't as close as I would expect and they have different answer phone messaged

Sometimes on company can have several different numbers for seperate departments. Try calling back first thing via number on website. Don't worry though as it could be something and nothing .

Does anyone know if its common practice for a court to phone? I thought they did everything by post

If they wanted to get hold of you then they'd leave a message (or write to you).

I wouldn't call back personally.

If you do call back obviously don't give out any personal info.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking - and hoping, but it's difficult not to panic when you get a call from a county court! I think I'll phone tomorrow on the number on the website and see what they say
