Quick question

Was just wondering if there is any particular reason why certain daily competitions are bumped on the main board daily and others are not .
For example and the 1 that got me wondering was the current shortlist daily designer watch competition , it seemed strange that with prizes as good as these each day and an answer that changes each day also ,it wasn't bumped, yet the glamour and easy living ones where the answer is the same every day are .
I'm not complaining in any way as I bookmark the few dailies I wish to do , just wondered if there was a particular reason.

Thanks firefly, so I guess it is just down to the op's personal preference then which is probably right ,thanks for answering .

I personally feel it would be more helpful for the thread to be bumped on a daily one as a reminder..

However with hourly ones ie the Times ones then I don't really feel the need for the hourly bump as it's more in the mind having to enter so often anyway - but it doesn't particularly bother me as I unsubscribe after the first hourly bump and can see it's probably useful for other people.

Yeah, I think if there's a thread posted it's here for the benefit of MSE compers and I don't see any reason to request that it isn't bumped as bumping a daily comp acts as a prompt to the members.

If there's a new question / prize each day I'd say the thread actually needs to be bumped.
In the case (especially magazine dailies) where there's no new question / prize and it's just a comp that you can enter daily then there's really no need for it to be bumped.

  • Cheers sidsnot for the heads up regarding this comp, I didn't even know it was there and probably would have missed it if you hadn't said something :T

I rarely venture into the Dailies Board as I find it a bit confusing, I usually rely on seeing a Daily in the Main Board and bookmarking it to do each day.

    Thanks again :j

    2009 !!!!
gosh, that was one old post to be searching/stalking for & photobucketing
must of took you ages again to be stalking my posts again to drag that up from the past,
on the thread for that particular post there are also others who have said exactly the same thing,
so why just post that one ?
i could repost the whole thread that would show the relevance of the remark/postings,
seems a tad strange how you always seem to post anything i've said from a thread & take great delight in posting early hours of the morning & then amending your posts.

it's aware you are always hunting out old posts that were said on threads by me when i was a relative newbie at the time & was still learning mse forum rules,
nearly 5 years passed since then! times change, circumstances change,
we learn, or some of us do, not to live in the past,
we change our ideas & thoughts to move onwards & upwards to fit in with things in the present not the past,
& just for the record i myself now often 'bump'
threads to say if a comp has problems/not working etc so have learned a lot since 2009.

  • dailies don't really need bumping at all as we have a place in the forum specifically for them - that needs to be used correctly & kept up to date (not having a go at anyone here)

Thanks from me as well sidsnot as I hadn't seen this either.
TBH I thought the Shortlist and Stylist ones like this with a different answer were usually bumped everyday.
