Over the years as the kids have grown up things have changed a little.
Now we all have a 'crap sack' which is filled with allsorts of bits and pieces nothing very expensive but usually some items are useful, some are fun and some you can just eat or drink!! We have these fairly early on and at whose ever house we are at for breakfast! Then we all tend to head off in different directions because of extended in-laws/family where presents are given to grandkids etc.
We then up back home after various house calls/visits when we have our Christmas dinner with a few presents and then late afternoon/early evening all the adults kids end up at ours for more present exchanging before we play the game that has been bought for that Christmas!
So present opening can go on all day in our family!! I love it!!

As a child - up at four wake up big brother, and open stockings together in his or my room. Stocking contents were usually chocolate coins (which got eaten immediately) satsuma (which got left to languish until it went off) ALWAYS a pack of top trumps, small games and generally stuff that we could play with together until six when we'd go into our parents room.
Breakfast followed, usually a full English that I could never eat because of all the excitement (why oh why would you want a full English on Xmas day anyway?!) then we had to wash, get dressed, do the dishes etc before opening presents.
We just used to have them in a big pile regardless of who they were from, i was definately a ripper! after that we'd play with our presents whilst mum prepared dinner.
Nowadays, I'm not allowed downstairs until eight, but me and dh still do things fairly similarly...up and open presents listening to Xmas carols and having a glass of fizz, then a walk round to see family, before coming back for lunch at about 3 pm...we usually chil out after lunch with a Christmas DVD before heading to the jnlaws for the evening.0
