Using Google search to get targeted results

Hi All,
I'm very new to this whole comping thing but i have definitely been bitten by the bug.
I thought i would share a tip that i have used lots before to get highly targeted search results from google.
The google search engine is a very powerful tool, and will return results normally really well, but when comping quite often the results will return old pages, or pages outside the uk, so what do you do?
There are certain things you can enter into the search box to bring back more targeted results.
if you enter the follow (don't include the '')
"allinurl:.co.uk" - this will bring back pages with .co.uk in the web address
"+" this will allow you to ask for pages that mention two key words i.e "tickets + music"
"or" this is simular to the "+" except its a either/or option
so how how to bring it all together???
If you wanted to find websites that are in the UK and have a compertition for a holiday you would enter in the following into google - "allinurl:.co.uk + competition or win + holiday"
so basicly your asking Google to bring back all the results that have .co.uk in the website and mention either competition or Win and mention holiday.
Then what i usually do is click on the 'Search Options' button just under the search bar, then click on 'Any Time' and change this to a custom range from two months ago from today.
Have a play around with it and you'll be surprised just how targeted these search results are.
Any questions please feel free to ask.

Hi,thanks for the ideas.
Is the above for comps to enter or for comps to post to MSE?0 -
Either really, its for finding comps, that are not that easily found. And if someone is specificity looking for a certain product to win.
Hope that makes sence0 -
Or you could just set the search to last month! Much simpler.Thank you all who post.0

You can but that will still bring up ALL of the results for last month.
This is to target specific items.
Another example, is if you wanted to win a kitchen, most kitchen or home improvement comps will only allow for a specific few postcodes, so if you searched 'kitchen compertition' this would bring up every web page that mentioned those words in the whole of the uk or globally.
But if you entered 'Compertition or win + kitchen + Birmingham' this would return all the pages for kitchen comps in Birmingham.0 -
Probably best not to restrict the search to ".co.uk" as some are .com etc and there should soon be more variations.0

Isn't "Advanced search" option easier?thanks to all posters
PARKRUN - The only time the ladies chase me!
I've changed my facebook username to NOBODY so when I enter FB comps I press the "Like" button it will say NOBODY likes this0 -

Searching for "compertition" will definitely bring targeted results - I'd search for "competition" myselfLiving with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0
