milreagh development dundonald

Hi all, we currently have our property sale agreed and our looking at options. We may rent short term. We are looking in different areas. Has anyone any experience of this development, we would probably be looking at one of the smaller houses on this site. Just wonder have people been happy with turn key options etc.

Also wondering about commuting from here one of us works in city centre and other Antrim. We are also considering buying something more city central or looking at developments in Glengormley.

Thanks

I know someone who has a house there and he's very happy, however commuting is a different matter. Dundonald village is a shambles from around 7.30 to 9.15, it can be really difficult to get through, sometimes taking 15 minutes to get through the 4 sets of lights to get you past the Ulster Hospital, a real traffic bottleneck

  • I live in Dundonald and traffic can be pretty bad in the morning and evening rush hour, but I have learnt the back roads like through the Castlereagh hills and rat runs mean I get to work a lot quicker.
I avoid the Newtwonards Road at all costs as, as the previous poster said the traffic lights really slow the traffic down and if there is an accident or any other sort of 'incident' then its a nightmare.
I start work at 8.30am and am based near the Boucher Road. I leave the house at around 7.50am and this gets me in on time usually - when the schools are off, the traffic is very light and cuts some time off the journey. :)

Millreagh is near where i work and i would say it is a very quiet spot.

Yes you can go up the Carrowreagh Rd to head to Belfast
but be very careful in the Winter as that road is not gritted
and i have seen plenty of accidents.

Never go down it when it;s covered in ice.

Thanks everyone, any other thoughts had a look at one of the houses last week and liked it, such a big decision!!!!
  • I don't want to pry but if you have school age children (or plan to) then I would go for a property in an area with good primary and post primary schools if at all possible. Obviously within commuting distance of both of your places of work. Enjoy your search.
