Hi my oh pays child maintenance for his 2 children, his daughter is 18 and at college full time. Today she is starting a job working 30 hours a week in between her college hours. I`ve googled and have read quite a few conflicting posts on whether my oh will still have to pay maintenance for his daughter, Some saying no as the job is more than 24 hours a week and others saying yes as she is still in full time education and will still be eligible for child benefit. I would be very grateful if anybody could clarify this for us. Thank you in advance.

You cannot claim CB if the child is working over. 24 hours a week.0

How serious is she about her course? She really needs to cut her working hours significantly if she wants to do well. My sons college tell them to do no more than 8 hours a week paid work along side their full time course (a levels).:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

My oh has had a heated conversation or 2 this week about the amount of hours and it affecting her college work but his daughter being 18 obviously knows best
........
And i did come across this while doing some searching...
You must tell the Child Benefit Office if your child starts paid work for 24 hours a week or more after the age of 16. Your payments will normally stop from the Monday after your child starts work.
But if your child also stays in education or training that counts for Child Benefit, your payments may continue. It doesn't matter how many hours they work. Your child will need to have started, enrolled or been accepted for a course that counts for Child Benefit before the age of 19.
So even the child benefit office aren`t really clear on it0 -
.....or the CSA!0

Prelude will have the answer you want, im pretty sure, but not certain if the QC is working over a certain amount of hours, ( i actually thought it was 16 ) then the QC will not be classed as such, thus ending chb, and all csa intrest in that qc.
Just remeber, We will only check chb if asked to on the 2003 scheme, so if you think / know the pwc is not reciveing chb anymore, ring us immediatly, dont just think we will know.0 -
I was told by the child benefit office that as long as they were on a full time education course be it college or school they could earn whatever and it wouldn't stop any other benefits or maintenance payments. On the other hand if her college find out she is dedicating so many hours to working rather than concentrating on her course (most colleges expect you to spend as many hours at home working as you spend at college on your course work) they may remove her from the course. TBH as long as her job doesn't interfere with her course and she keeps up with it, they don't care.0
