Why you shouldn't buy from the AA

The AA and group of companies will automatically add you to sales and marketing contact for any service you acquire or even inquire about. This is on record from their own privacy policy. To quote:
"When you first make an inquiry of or buy a product from Saga Group, or AA Group or Drakefield you consent to receiving marketing about other products and services from us."
This is not an 'opt-in' but an automatic assumption of consent.
To remove yourself from their lists, you have to write to 3 departments, as explained in the privacy policy:
Saga Group Data Protection Officer
AA Data Protection Compliance Manager
Drakefield Insurance Services Limited
An extraordinary policy.
If you respect your natural right to privacy and freedom from marketing, please don't do business with the AA.

If the AA are offering you a product for half the price of their competitors, I wouldn't say it was worth paying double just to avoid marketing emails.
You could always opt out afterwards.0 -
Opting out from marketing is becoming increasingly difficult but worth doing. The AA used to have an email address to do it - obviously too easy - hence having to write. Just try ringing and asking.
Boxes to opt out have disappeared from most sites application forms now, and the convoluted ways to opt out are hidden. However I always do it, really hacks them off...
Other tips:- never give you landline no. out, and your mobile only if they really need it (e.g. credit card companies and banks for security) Also register with TPS/MPS.
My junk mail is minimal and I don't get sales calls. If only I could opt out from the inlaws.....0 -

As someone who has worked with insurance marketeers for many years I can assure you it doesnt hack them off at all. They send out million pieces of DM and the tiny percentage that opt out of marketing really doesnt impact the numbers when you look at the fairly low response rates they are expecting.0
